How to Organize Your TV Stand

   Unplug and Clear the Surface

   Photograph the back panel before you unplug anything, then pull every device off the stand so you can see the full shelf and the dust behind it.

   Sort Devices into Three Piles

   Group the electronics into gear that stays on the stand, items that belong in another room, and dead cables or obsolete boxes headed for recycling.

   Bundle and Label the Cables

   Coil each cord into a six-inch loop, secure it with a velcro tie, and label both ends with the device name so you never trace a mystery wire again.

   Assign a Bay to Each Device

   Give the most-used console the open center shelf for airflow, and tuck rarely touched items like the router or a spare streaming box into the enclosed side cabinet.

   Corral Remotes and Small Gear

   Drop remotes into a shallow tray or divided caddy on the top shelf so they stop migrating to the sofa cushions.

   Hide the Power Strip

   Mount the surge protector to the back of the stand with adhesive strips and route one cord to the outlet, keeping the visible cable count down to a single line.
