How to Fold T-Shirts Vertically

   Empty one drawer or shelf

   Work on a single clear surface so you can fold a whole batch in one pass. Doing it on a crowded drawer just shuffles the mess around.

   Lay the shirt face down and smooth it

   Button or zip anything that has closures, then press the fabric flat with your palm. Printed tees go graphic-side down so the fold doesn't crack the print.

   Fold both sides into the center

   Bring the left edge and sleeve in toward the middle line, then do the same on the right, so the shirt becomes a long rectangle a little narrower than your drawer.

4. 04

   Fold it in thirds

   Fold the sleeve end toward the middle, then fold once more so you end up with a compact rectangle that can stand on its own edge.

5. 05

   Stand each shirt on edge

   Tuck folded shirts upright in the drawer side by side like files, with the most visible fold facing up. Nothing stacks on top of anything else.

6. 06

   Sort by how often you wear them

   Put the shirts you reach for most in the front rows, then group by color or sleeve length so you can find one without turning on the light.
